I find it refreshing to read the entirety of this chapter in one sitting.
The Conclusion of the extract from the Rule states…
Thus, after ascending all these steps of humility, the Monk will presently come to that love of God which is perfect and casts away our fear.
"that love of God which is perfect and casts away our fears", I long for that day where my fears are no longer, when humility is the natural state in which I live, and where the perfect love of God is what fills my heart. This ladder is tall and we often fall many steps but through the work of the Holy Spirit, the prayers of many, and perseverance we will ascend that ladder.
May God bless us with the graces we need to persevere in prayer, grow in wisdom, and live by faith, through Jesus our Savior.
